Rationale

This course is offered in response to the felt need to provide physicians and other interested, the necessary competence to effective carry out occupational health adn safety programs for the workers in all places of employment.

 


Description

This course provides the participant basic concepts, principles, and current trends on occupational health and safety with emphasis on the unique problems met by the worker in the performance of his trade. It also provides the participant the opportunity to administer specific preventive, control and maintaenance programs necessary for the health and safety of the worker.

 

 

Objectives

At the end of the course, the participant should be able to :

  • describe the scope and impact of occupational health and safety on the worker, the industry, community as whole and the South East Asian region;
  • define his rold in relation to the other members of the health team, management, labor and other realted community agencies and resourse;
  • describe the workplace health and safety hazards as well as their evaluation and control;
  • discuss the clinical aspects of occupational disease including their phychosocial implications; and
  • demonstrate skill in the planning of occupaional health and safety programs.
