Aims
At the end of the course, participants will be able to
- Make laboratory-based diagnosis of AIDS-related protozoa that cause opportunistic infections among HIV/AIDS individuals using conventional techniques, special staining method, and high-tech tools
- Select the appropriate diagnostic tool for each part of the world
- Exchange experiences and network among each other

- Demonstration of AIDS-related protozoa slides
- Practice of simple stool examination
- Special staining methods for Coccidia and Microsporidia
- Practice of special staining methods and microscopic examinations
- Diagnosis of toxoplasmosis
- Practice on Sabin-Feldman Dye Test for Toxoplasma serology
- PCR technique for diagnosis of AIDS-related protozoa
- Practice of PCR techniques (Cryptosporidium/Toxoplasma)
