  1. Make laboratory-based diagnoses of malaria by conventional techniques, alternative methods, and using hi-tech tools
  2. Select the appropriate diagnostic tool for each part of the world

  1. Malaria overview
  2. Recent laboratory methods for the diagnosis of malaria
  3. Laboratory demonstration of all human malaria parasites
  4. Practice: thin and thick smears from infected blood
  5. Staining methods for thin and thick blood smears
  6. Practice of conventional microscopic malaria diagnosis
  7. Alternative methods for malaria diagnosis and their use
  8. Practice: rapid diagnostic test kits
  9. PCR technique for malaria diagnosis
  10. Practice: PCR technique
