Sexually-transmitted Diseases (STDs) and HIV-related Problems

Aims
At the end of the course, participants will be able to
- Describe the causes of STDs and HIV and the global & regional problems caused by them
- Diagnose STDs & HIV, and related diseases
- Describe the management and control of STDs & HIV using a holistic approach
Who
Medical doctors and health personnel who are interested to gain knowledge
Content
- Approach to genital problems (ulcer, discharge, etc.)
- Syphilis
- STD/HIV risk-reduction counseling
- STDs in a clinical setting; visit to an STD clinic
- Reproductive health: maternal and newborn, adolescents and family planning
- HIV: epidemiology
- HIV: virology
- HIV: immunology
- ARV: practical approach
- AIDS: and common opportunistic infections
- Initial evaluation of HIV infected patients
- Visit to an HIV clinic (Bumrungrad Hospital, Bangkok)
- HPV: warts and cancers
- HPV: epidemiology and vaccine
- Post exposure prophylaxis (PEP) for HIV
- Immune restitution disease (IRD) or immune restoration inflammatory syndrome (IRIS)
- Pediatric HIV and mother-to-child transmission
- Visit to an anonymous testing NGO (Thai Red Cross) for men who have sex with men (MSM)
