Sexually-transmitted Diseases (STDs) and HIV-related Problems

Aims

At the end of the course, participants will be able to

 

  1. Describe the causes of STDs and HIV and the global & regional problems caused by them
  2. Diagnose STDs & HIV, and related diseases
  3. Describe the management and control of STDs & HIV using a holistic approach

 

 

Who

Medical doctors and health personnel who are interested to gain knowledge

 

 

Content

  1. Approach to genital problems (ulcer, discharge, etc.)
  2. Syphilis
  3. STD/HIV risk-reduction counseling
  4. STDs in a clinical setting; visit to an STD clinic
  5. Reproductive health: maternal and newborn, adolescents and family planning
  6. HIV: epidemiology
  7. HIV: virology
  8. HIV: immunology
  9. ARV: practical approach
  10. AIDS: and common opportunistic infections
  11. Initial evaluation of HIV infected patients
  12. Visit to an HIV clinic (Bumrungrad Hospital, Bangkok)
  13. HPV: warts and cancers
  14. HPV: epidemiology and vaccine
  15. Post exposure prophylaxis (PEP) for HIV
  16. Immune restitution disease (IRD) or immune restoration inflammatory syndrome (IRIS)
  17. Pediatric HIV and mother-to-child transmission
  18. Visit to an anonymous testing NGO (Thai Red Cross) for men who have sex with men (MSM)
