Basic Monitoring and Evaluation of Health Intervention Programs

Course Description

This course presents principles and concepts in monitoring and evaluation of health intervention programs. It is intended for policy makers, program managers, project implementers or other professionals whose work involves M & E of strategies and activities.

 

 

Course Objectives      

 At the end of the course the participants should be able to:

 

  1. Explain the uses/purpose of monitoring and evaluation;
  2. Discuss the components and important features of an MIS ;
  3. List the various types/categories and approaches in evaluation;
  4. Select appropriate indicators of project inputs, outputs, outcome and impact;
  5. Formulate evaluation research objectives and the appropriate research design;
  6. Explain the major considerations in developing an M & E plan;
  7. Determine sample size requirements; and
  8. Apply the Logical Framework Approach (LFA) for planning and monitoring and evaluation.
